About the Los Angeles Lakers palette

The Los Angeles Lakers were founded in 1947 and compete in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association. Their primary colour, Lakers Purple #552583, is a dark, muted purple.

National Basketball Association uniforms changed character when the league moved away from fixed home-white and away-colour rules, allowing teams to field several named uniform editions in a season. That makes a single flat team palette less useful here than in any other league, because the colours a team actually wears vary from night to night.

Within the Pacific Division the Lakers face Golden State Warriors. Those are the matchups where two palettes appear in one frame, so they are the pairings most worth checking for a clash.

Los Angeles is also home to Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Dodgers, which means local broadcast and print work often has to carry more than one of these palettes.
